Jonathan started his business career in farming. Over a four year period, he managed a number of small to medium sized farms in Wales. Following completion of a Farm Management course at Aberystwyth, he decided to change career and became a chartered management accountant working for a number of blue chip organisations including Trafalgar House, Enterprise Oil, General Accident and Savills PLC. He has also worked as a Financial Consultant and Interim Manager to a number of small businesses.
In 1993 Jonathan started work in the care sector and more recently became Finance Manager for Bristol Social Services. Responsible to the Director for strategic financial support and stewardship, he has helped change the culture and image of the care profession within the Bristol area. Much of the organisational change has been brought about by implementing modern performance management tools, but also "soft" tools such as IIP (Investors in people) and EFQM (European foundation for quality management) strategies. Closer partnership working with other agencies have also been key to obtaining value for money within Bristol care services, which in some instances has involved a transfer of service to voluntary and private sector organisations. Jonathan has also represented Bristol in a number of national project groups concerning quality care standards and resource issues.
Jonathan is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA), and was recently awarded a certificate in project management (PRINCE 2).

Having studied at the University of the West of England, Jonathan was successful in gaining a postgraduate masters degree (MBA) in Business Administration in 2005. While studying for his Masters, he also undertook some management consultancy work for some large care providers within the Bristol area.

Jonathan has particular expertise and training skills in change management, leadership, project management, performance management, management consultancy, financial management, ICT, marketing, team management, engagement team building, strategy, business planning, process reengineering and organisational development.
Jonathan is an Associate of the Institute of Business Advisers (IBA).
